Uhuru was legally dethroned from Jubilee top post - Sabina Chege

Africa-Press – Kenya. Acting Jubilee party leader Sabina Chege has said that former head of state Uhuru Kenyatta was legally removed from office as the party leader. There are two factions, one led by EALA MP Kanini Kega and the other by former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni, are claiming to be the bonafide leaders of the party.

Speaking at a funeral service in Sirisia Constituency on Saturday, Chege accused the former President of actively engaging in politics instead of giving guidance to the leaders who are in office.

She noted that former presidents should retire from politics six months after the new presidents have assumed office. “Nobody chased Uhuru Kenyatta from being the Jubilee party boss, we followed the law to remove him,” she said.

Jubilee acting SG Kanini Kega, on the other hand, accused Uhuru of having used his position to harass others. He said Sirisia MP John Waluke’s graft case was political.

“Sincerely speaking Waluke’s persecution was political, Uhuru Kenyatta used his position to harass others,” Kega said. In addition, the acting party leaders called on the former President to concentrate on uniting Kenyans like he is doing in other African countries.

“After Uhuru’s retirement, he was given the role of ensuring that there is peace in Africa but the way he is behaving it seems he is not doing what is necessary,” Chege added.

Chege noted that as the Jubilee party, they fully support President William Ruto’s government. “As Jubilee party, we won’t take part in protests led by the ODM party boss, it is a waste of time,” she said.

She added that Uhuru willingly handed over the tools of power to President Ruto. She asked the opposing side to give him time to work for Kenyans. “There are conmen in Nairobi presenting to be the bonafide Jubilee officials, we don’t know them, those are ODM supporters trying to cause confusion in our party,” she said.
