Africa-Press – Kenya. Citizen TV has been accused of prematurely ending the heated interview where news anchor Jeff Koinange had hosted former Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando wa Kabando on Wednesday, June 16.
The show raised eyebrows when Jeff deviated from his normal style of ending the show, where he allows the guest to give his final comments as well as take some comments online.
Further, a spot check revealed that the JKL show normally ends at around 11.30 pm at times close to midnight. The Wednesday edition however ended at 11.11 pm.
Kabando expressed his shock after learning that the show was coming to an end just as he was “getting started”.
The turn of events prompted speculation that the guest’s comments against President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Jubilee government may have prompted the show to be cut short.
Deputy President William Ruto’s campaign strategist Dennis Itumbi was among the first to propagate the theory
“#JKLive – Wakabando spoke too much TRUTH? They had to end the show? Eeeh Jeff Koinange. There might be something here. No reading of Tweets, no Last word allowed, ” Itumbi stated.
Many other netizens raised similar concerns on Citizen TV social media platforms although the station did not make a response.

contacted Jeff but he was unavailable for comment. Another highly placed source at the Citizen TV studios stated that the issue was too sensitive to speak on.
During the show, Kabando sensationally claimed that he had held candid discussions with Uhuru and came to the conclusion that the Jubilee Party leader was not keen on retiring in 2022.
“The battle between Uhuru and Ruto is because Uhuru wants to prepare Gideon Moi, he wants to pay back Moi and this is what we’re saying we will not allow,” Kabando intimated.
Jeff’s popular show JKL has in the past put him on the spot over controversial comments made by guests.
In 2015, he was arrested alongside his guest Tony Gachoka over comments made about businessman Jimmy Wanjigi on KTN where his show was based.
The Standard Group owned KTN ultimately cancelled its partnership with JKL in 2017 after a heated interview where Jeff had hosted activist Miguna Miguna alongside Esther Passaris.
