Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenya on Sunday recorded 194 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 2,319 tested in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate is now at 8.4 per cent.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe in a statement said from the cases, 13o individuals are Kenyans while 64 are foreigners.

Kagwe said the youngest is a two-month-old while the oldest is 97 years.

The total confirmed positive cases are now 334,443 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,765,620.

He said Nairobi accounted for 162, Uasin Gishu nine, Garrisa six, Kiambu four, Laikipia four, Mombasa two, Siaya two, Bomet, Meru, Nakuru, Nyeri and West Pokot one case each.

“Today, 559 patients have recovered from the disease, 525 are from the Home-Based and Isolation Care Program while 34 are from various health facilities countrywide,” he said.

“This pushes the total recoveries to 325,385 of whom 272,133 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,252 from various health facilities countrywide.”

One patient has succumbed to the disease which is a late death reported after conducting facility record audits in the month of June, therefore, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 5,656.

There are 126 patients currently admitted to the health facilities, while 3,276 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

“Four patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), all of whom are on ventilatory support. Another 22 are in the general wards and are all on supplemental oxygen,” Kagwe said.

He added that no patient is in the High Dependency Unit(HDU).

As of today, a total of 18, 864, 418 vaccines have been administered across the country.

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 4,379 while the total number of fully vaccinated individuals in the last 24 hours is 2,037.

Kagwe said the proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 31.9 per cent.

The government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,245,033.
