Uhuru: I've done my best, forgive me where I didn't deliver

Africa-Press – Kenya. President Uhuru Kenyatta has said he had done well during his 10-year-rule and asked for forgiveness for his shortcomings.

In an interview Sunday night at State House, Uhuru said all the work he has done within the 10 years of his tenure, is the best he could have done.

“Despite all the problems that I have faced, I would have wanted to do more, but that is the much I could have done,” he said.

Uhuru said if he fell short of people’s expectations during his time, they should embrace the little he has done.

“If I have not fulfilled everything that was expected of me, forgive me, but remember, everything I have done and every time you look at my projects, at least say ‘he did this and we appreciate’, ” he said.

The head of state urged the next government to continue from where he has left and strive to do more.

“May we have a government that will fight corruption, a government that will continue with where I have left or do more than I have done,” he said.

He called on Kenyans to continue being peaceful during and after the elections.

“Kenyans to be united as one nation, let’s not hate each other or fight one another, that is not the way to bring peace or unite, let us be peaceful.”
