Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has responded to Uasin Gishu graduate Mercy Tarus after she allegedly turned down his invite for talks.<\/p>\n

Ledama asked Tarus to look for him for a discussion on the prospects of her working for him.<\/p>\n

Mercy had gone viral for censuring Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii and Senator Jackson Mandago over the Finland Scholarship saga.<\/p>\n

The viral image of her courageously taking on the two leaders prompted Ledama to invite her for a talk.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr Ledama, before we can further this conversation, talk to your fellow Senators to bring the Uasin Gishu County Government to book and compel them to refund rightfully hard-earned money to the citizens of Kenya. Maybe then, we can talk. Otherwise, I have nothing more to say,\u201d a tweet from an account bearing Mercy Tarus’s name stated.<\/p>\n

In his response, Ledama said he respects her opinion on his invite but clarified that he wanted her to work for him.<\/p>\n

“If indeed the response was from Mercy Tarus, she has a right to respond that way and I respect her sentiments. My position was clear, I said I would like her to work for me! Liking and offering have two different meanings,” Ledama said.<\/p>\n

He added that if he was to offer her a job, he would initiate some specific terms and conditions.<\/p>\n

“I like her boldness and candid nature and that can rub positively on other staff. Now when it comes to offering, that would come second with specific terms or an invitation to work on a specific paid role.”<\/p>\n

He went on to say that he doesn’t have the powers to call Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago adding that the parliament doesn’t work that way.<\/p>\n

“I can\u2019t summon Mandago … a petition has to be launched in parliament and the specific committee would be assigned the task. It\u2019s important for you to understand how parliament works. Even the courts can\u2019t work on their own volition a complaint has to be filed,” Ledama said.<\/p>\n

Tarus reiterated that all victims of the Finland scholarship scum must be refunded their money.<\/p>\n

“Maybe then, we can work on the next project because my work will be done here. Otherwise, I cannot commit myself to other duties,” she said.<\/p>\n
