Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kabras Sevens coach Felix Ayange wants his side to improve at the breakdown and scrum ahead of the Tisap Sevens slated for Eldoret early month.<\/p>\n

Ayange saw his charges’ lead in the national series trimmed to just two points after finishing third at the Christie Sevens over the weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe two facets of the play \u2014 the breakdown and scrum \u2014 which have been our weapons, were not good in the two days of rugby in Nairobi but we have a couple of weeks to sort it out,\u201d said Ayange.<\/p>\n

The former Quins and Kenya Sevens international also rued complacency.<\/p>\n

“Complacency creeps in slowly and I believe we were too casual in the semifinal against Strathmore. It’s one area we have to address if we are to win the Sevens Series next month,\u201d said Ayange.<\/p>\n

The Kakamega-based side were losing finalists in the opening leg at the Dala Sevens before winning the Driftwood and Prinsloo Sevens tournaments.<\/p>\n

Ayange said their loss at the Christie Sevens was a wake-up call.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am glad the loss happened. It’s a wake-up call to signify that nothing is ever easy. We have to fight hard for the remainder of the series since we have become a major target for our competitors,” added Ayange.<\/p>\n

On playmaker Jone Kubu’s 11-week suspension after a stamping incident over the weekend, Ayange said: “It’s unfortunate what he did but we soldier on. We have depth in the squad which will ensure that we remain competitive.<\/p>\n

Ayange also revealed they are monitoring Griffin Charo’s hamstring injury which has made him a doubt for the remaining two legs.<\/p>\n

“Griffin picked a slight hamstring injury and we will wait and see how he responds to treatment. I hope he will be available for selection,” said Ayange.<\/p>\n

The sugar millers are expected to resume training later in the week.<\/p>\n

The series is on a two-week break and will resume on September 2-3 in Eldoret, Tisap Sevens and close out with the George Kabeberi Sevens at the RFUEA ground a week later.<\/p>\n
