Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>As the country celebrates 10 years of devolution, three MPs from Kajiado and Narok have asked President William Ruto to clamp down on corruption in counties for devolution to work effectively.<\/p>\n

Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi, Narok West MP Gabriel Tongoyo and Kajiado West MP George Sunkuyia said they are confident that the government will end corruption in the country<\/p>\n

They urged Kenyans to rally behind the head of state in resolving pertinent issues that have dragged the country behind in terms of development<\/p>\n

The three were speaking during a Maasai manyatta ceremony in Enkiito, Kajiado Central, on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Memusi, who is an ODM MP, said he decided to work closely with the Kenya Kwanza government because he is confident that President Ruto is determined to end corruption in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been to State House and I’m taking this opportunity to warn corrupt leaders that their days are numbered. President Ruto will catch up with those who have been looting county monies meant for the development and improvement of people\u2019s lives,\u201d Memusi said.<\/p>\n

Tongoyo thanked the Kenya Kwanza administration for releasing devolution money in \u201cgood time\u201d this financial year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have never received devolution money in time since the counties were devolved in 2013. We are happy for the government of the day, but we are not happy about corruption in the counties,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Tongoyo said the National Treasury is playing its part well but the corruption in the counties has denied Kenyans development.<\/p>\n

Sunkuyia asked the country to maintain peace to allow development.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a government in place and Kenyans should rally behind the head of state in resolving pertinent issues that have dragged us behind in terms of development,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Sunkuyia said devolution will mean nothing to the people in the counties if the government will not end the runaway corruption that is threatening a \u201cwell-intended devolution\u201d for the people of Kenya.<\/p>\n
