Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Noga beat Equity Bank Hawks 63-48 in the finals to win the Sterling Super Cup Challenge at the Ulinzi Sports Complex Sunday.<\/p>\n

Boasting some of the country\u2019s young talents like Medina Okot, Margaret Nereah, Ashley Minayo, Mary Lisa and Alexander Juma, Noga led 18-13 in the first quarter before trailing 12-13 in the second.<\/p>\n

After intermission, Noga regrouped and took another 18-13 third-quarter advantage before overwhelming their rivals in the fourth with a strong 15-9 edge.<\/p>\n

Okot led the scorers with game-high 25 points while Nereah added another 10 for the winners. The bankers were pepped by Mary Ann Nyagaki and Mercy Wanyama, who tallied 10 points each.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a good tournament. The girls went out there to have fun and they did, despite training just twice before the tournament,” said coach Maurice Obilo.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe lost the opening game by a point simply because we were still looking for the right chemistry but once we did, we had it easy all the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Noga blanked TS Swish 54-45 in the semi-final match while Hawks shut out Zetech University Sparks with a close 48-45 margin.<\/p>\n

TS Swish claimed third place by sinking Zetech 47-43.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mainly used the team\u2019s second-tier players and I am impressed at the level of competitiveness they showed against very experienced teams, who boasted of Premier League players,\u201d noted coach Job Munene.<\/p>\n

A total of eight women’s and 10 men’s teams took part in the two-week show that included the University of Nairobi Dynamites, Africa Nazarene University (ANU) Storms, Dockers, Twende and Kenyatta University.<\/p>\n
