Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Nairobi City Stars have beefed up the team by signing nine new players ahead of the 2023\/24 season.<\/p>\n

The club\u2019s chief executive officer Patrick Korir confirmed the new signings on Thursday afternoon. The new players include Japanese Yuto Kusaba. Kusaba signed from FC Zenshin.<\/p>\n

Goalkeepers Edwin Mukolwe joins Simba wa Nairobi from Bidco United while Julius Ombacho has been poached from newly-promoted National Super League side Luanda Villa.<\/p>\n

Migori Youth captain Wycliffe Omondi, Sothnes Ida from Tanzania Polisi, Brian Mose from Total Spurs Narok, and Gilbert Abala from Busia Sugar FC, have also joined Simba wa Nairobi.<\/p>\n

Others are Robinson Asenwa from Vapor Sports and Brian Omondi from Kibera Black Stars.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new signings are a blend of rookies and experienced players. I believe they are worth replacements for those who left at the end of last season,\u201d said Korir.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have very good attacking players and I believe we shall do better in this area than last season when we strolled to get goals. These players, alongside those who have renewed their contracts, will help us finish in a better position than last season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking on the phone, Korir said Edwin Buliba, Augustine Etemesi, Calvin Masawa, Clifford Ouma, Abuyeka Kubasu, Andrew Kisilu, Dennis Oalo and Timothy Muganda have renewed their contracts.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeven other players had running contracts with us,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

At the end of last season, Kennedy Onyango left City Stars for champions Gor Mahia while Salim Abdalla and veteran forward Ezekiel Odera, who are currently provisionally suspended by the Football Kenya Federation over match manipulation allegations, also parted ways with the club.<\/p>\n

Others who left Simba wa Nairobi are goalkeepers Steve Njunge and Jacob Osano. Herrit Mungai also mutually parted ways with the club.<\/p>\n

Simba wa Nairobi, sponsored by the Jonathan Jackson Foundation, will host Muhoroni Youth in their opening match of the season on Sunday at Kasarani Annex.<\/p>\n
