Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Azimio leader Raila Odinga on Monday met with governors and leaders from the Lake Region Economic Block(LREB) to discuss matters of development and economic growth within the region<\/p>\n

Raila together with the leaders held a close-door meeting for over three hours within the lakeside city.<\/p>\n

The governors present included Anyang’ Nyong\u2019o (Kisumu), Gladys Wanga ( Homa Bay), Ochilo Ayacko ( Migori), James Orengo ( Siaya), Fernandes Baraza (Kakamega), Wilberforce Otichilo (Vihiga), Paul Otuoma (Busia) and Simba Arati (Kisii).<\/p>\n

However, Raila did not speak to the media.<\/p>\n

According to Nyong\u2019o, they talked about issues concerning the region in terms of development, politics and national affairs.<\/p>\n

He said they talked a lot about issues like the revitalisation of transportation in the lake, investments needed within the region like agriculture, research and access to capital.<\/p>\n

“We had fruitful discussions with our party leader, Raila Odinga. The discussions centred around the critical areas of revitalising lake transport and bolstering food security within our region by sustaining a reliable and robust agricultural sector,” Wanga said.<\/p>\n

She said together, they are confident that they can usher in a new era of prosperity and progress in the county of endless potential.<\/p>\n

The governors from Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori and Siaya counties later held a roundtable discussion with officials from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).<\/p>\n

This was to chart the way forward towards advancing HIV programming, transition and sustainability of all interventions geared towards eliminating the epidemic.<\/p>\n
