Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) loyalist Elizabeth Ongoro said Saturday that President William Ruto shed tears many times in 2007 because he wanted Raila Odinga to become president.<\/p>\n

As such, she said that Raila should give Ruto ample time to deliver on his development agenda because they are not enemies.<\/p>\n

Ongoro, who is the elder sister to Rarieda MP Otiende Amolo, said that she saw Ruto, then an ODM member shed tears when championing the course of Raila.<\/p>\n

“In 2007 I saw Ruto shed tears many times because he wanted Raila to be president,” Ongoro said.<\/p>\n

The late President Mwai Kibaki was announced winner of the 2007 presidential poll but his win was contested by the ODM brigade leading to the formation of a grand coalition government.<\/p>\n

Ruto is on record claiming that he supported Raila into becoming the Prime Minister after he was short-changed in his bid to become president.<\/p>\n

She was speaking during a women empowerment meeting at the home of Information Communication and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo.<\/p>\n

The women were drawn from all the subcounties of Siaya.<\/p>\n

Experts and government departmental officials availed to sensitize women on hustler fund loans for groups, Blue Economy, and Saccos.<\/p>\n

Ongoro told the congregants that Ruto, a Nilote, is a brother to Luos thus there should be harmony as he leads the country.<\/p>\n

“How come we are not realising that our brother is at the helm?” she paused.<\/p>\n

She said that ODM as a party has run out of ideas and tactics for winning any election.<\/p>\n

“Even in soccer, the coach has to change the pattern if it is not working. As Luos we have not changed the pattern since 1963,” Ongoro said.<\/p>\n

We will get the presidency only if we change the pattern, she continued.<\/p>\n

Even so, “2027 is gone” and we (Luos) can only position ourselves for 2032 and beyond, she asserted.<\/p>\n

Ongoro urged Raila’s ardent supporters to abandon the ODM party for the President’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).<\/p>\n

“I am an ODM founding member, and even used my millions to champion the agenda of the party; and therefore more ODM than you. With a clear mind, I have decided to jump ship into UDA.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, she called on the women to internalize the teachings on hustler fund, saccos, and blue economy to make themselves economically viable and self-reliant.<\/p>\n

CS Owalo on his part, used an analogy to urge locals to join the UDA.<\/p>\n

“If you cannot get a child with your husband then, as a clever woman, you look for your younger brother-in-law to help,” he said.<\/p>\n
