Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko has called on elected leaders to work together for the sake of the people irrespective of their political differences.<\/p>\n

The county chief noted even though leaders might have differences as individuals, the two levels of government must work together to ensure the people who elected them get the services they need.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany people may be talking about our differences, governments never have differences. Individuals may have differences but governments belong to the people and must serve the people without discrimination,\u201d Ayacko said on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Speaking further, the ODM Governor also noted that even though President William Ruto did not get many votes in the region, he is now the President of the people and any requests made are directed to him as their President.<\/p>\n

Ayacko explained that the Constitution of Kenya has created a scenario where the President may be from a different political party from that of the Governor as it is today.<\/p>\n

He added that Kenyans belong to both governments hence the need to create a culture of working together irrespective of political parties and our political differences for the sake of implementing the Constitution.<\/p>\n

Encouraging the President to address the current high cost of living, Ayacko told Ruto that what the people need at the moment is money in their pockets, food on the table, employment and growth.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Governor informed the President that Migori is a county of diversity playing host to different other tribes.<\/p>\n

Ayacko went ahead and said that Luhyas are part of his county hence the President should consider them when making appointments or should job opportunities arise.<\/p>\n

\u201cEneo tuko hapa, Waluhiya wako wengi sana, wakati kuna nafasi ya ajira hapa Kenya usiangalie jina ya Wajaluo pekee, angalia jina ya Waluhya wa hapa pia,\u201d the Governor said.<\/p>\n

This means, \u201cThere are lot of Luhyas where we are right now hence when there are jobs don\u2019t just look at Luo names but also consider Luhyas who are here\u2019.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIn your department that talks about inclusivity please when you are recruiting teachers remember the Luhya, the Somalis, the Kuria, Subas and the Luos so that we are a diverse Migori where everyone is moving forward together.\u201d<\/p>\n
