Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>United Democratic Alliance has intensified its sensitisation plan at the grassroots in the Nyanza region ahead of the party’s December 9 elections.<\/p>\n

The party is undertaking the campaigns to inform its members who will participate in the exercise of the regulations and procedures they will follow as they elect their officials.<\/p>\n

The elections will start at polling station, ward, constituency and county levels which will culminate at the national.<\/p>\n

The party Nyanza regional manager Okoth Obado said they are left with Siaya and Kisumu counties to undertake the sensitization plan before the elections are done.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sensitization is making all participants to be conversant with the rules and regulations of the party ahead of the grass-root elections. We want all offices to be filled competitively and with democracy,\u201d Obado said.<\/p>\n

Competitive seats include that of the chairperson and secretary. In the sensitization, party members were told to consider gender representation when choosing its officials.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Homa Bay town, Obado said UDA is a political party which champions unity and inclusivity.<\/p>\n

He was accompanied by the party director of mobilization Charles Matoke and party members Kennedy Obuya, Evans Oloo, Kevin Ouma and Kennedy Ondiek among others.<\/p>\n

Obado assured members of the party that the upcoming election will be peaceful.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnyone interested in any seat within the party is free to forward their names without fear of consideration, Obado said.<\/p>\n

Obado said President Ruto’s appointment of Raymond Omollo as Interior Principal Secretary and Odoyo Owidi as chairman for Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency among other leaders in his government shows that he has the people of the lake region at heart.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll we need is to reciprocate by supporting President Ruto’s administration. We should join UDA so that we can have a say in the government,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Matoke said UDA is trying to have its presence in all corners of the country<\/p>\n

He argued that most voters in Nyanza are used to elect leaders who are directly nominated by their parties and sometimes end up electing people whom they do not deserve.<\/p>\n

\u201cUDA is in the frontline where everyone is allowed to choose their leaders,\u201d Matoke said.<\/p>\n

Ondiek said UDA is slowly growing and the party is ready to compete with others in the 2027 election.<\/p>\n
