Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot has told off the Kenya Kwanza leaders for pointing an accusing finger at former President Uhuru Kenyatta.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Aukot noted that most leaders faulting Uhuru were part of his Jubilee-led administration.<\/p>\n

“With all due respect, Kimani Ichung’wah, our current president, as well as you, were in the last administration. President Ruto deputized Uhuru Kenyatta for ten uninterrupted years!” he said.<\/p>\n

Auko was responding to National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah who had noted that time was ripe they have a candid discussion in public with the former Head of State on the economy.<\/p>\n

However, Auko said that the current regime should leave Uhuru out of the blame games and work to fix the economy.<\/p>\n

“Uhuru is no longer the president. You claimed to have had a plan to fix whatever you now call “Uhuru’s mess.” Leave the man alone or bring any charges against him,” he stated.<\/p>\n

The Thirdway Alliance party leader also asked the Kenya Kwanza leaders to cease accusing Uhuru, using it as an excuse not to deliver their manifesto.<\/p>\n

Aukot however challenged them that if they couldn’t deliver they should resign.<\/p>\n

“Stop these excuses because it now exposes you and your ilk there as political con men. Alternatively, apologize to Kenyans and resign so we get a fresh government,” he added.<\/p>\n

Since they came to power, President William Ruto led administration has on several occasions blamed the current economic crisis on the past regime.<\/p>\n

Both Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua have linked Uhuru\u2019s administration to the current high cost of living.<\/p>\n

Early this month, Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u blamed the high cost of living on alleged economic blunders of the retired President\u2019s regime.<\/p>\n

The Treasury boss spoke when he appeared before the National Dialogue Committee.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are paying for the past policy mistakes, that is the truth. We are paying for the mistakes of the past,\u201d Ndung\u2019u said emphatically.<\/p>\n

Last week, Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen faulted the previous government for the leaking roof at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.<\/p>\n

“When we got to office, we found out that many of our airports are in a pathetic state and JKIA leaking is a result of that,” he said.<\/p>\n

Responding to the accusation, Uhuru who was in Mwingi on Sunday told the Kenya Kwanza government not to blame his administration for their failures.<\/p>\n

In a rare attack on the current regime, the former Head of State said the current government should address the problems facing Kenyans instead of heaping everything on the past regime.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery time one is unable to do what he should do they blame the past government, [with this trend] even if the wife has refused to give birth it will be blamed on us, but we are used to this,\u201d Uhuru said.<\/p>\n

As former Head of State, Uhuru said, all he can do is to pray for Kenya and the unity of the nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had retired but I am praying for Kenya, I am really praying for unity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
