Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>A total of 17 Kenyan professionals and five amateur golfers are set to compete at this year\u2019s Tanzania Open Championships starting today at Kilimanjaro Golf Club.<\/p>\n

The three-day event, which ends on Saturday, has a prize purse of Sh1.5 million and will feature the three categories.<\/p>\n

The Division ‘A’ pros will tee off on Thursday with Pro-Am, which has attracted players from Kenya Uganda, and hosts Tanzania, taking place tomorrow and Saturday.<\/p>\n

According to the draw released on Wednesday, Kenya\u2019s top pro Greg Snow from Muthaiga will lead the compatriots in the battle for the top honours.<\/p>\n

The Safari Tour Series winner will tee off at 9:00 am on the tenth tee alongside Robinson Owiti (Vet lab), Sullivan Muthugia (Thika Sports Club), Mike Kisia (Vet Lab), Jeff Kubwa (Muthaiga), David Wakhu (Golf Park), Jastas Madoya (Great Rift), Daniel Nduva (Nyali), Hesbon Kutwa (Vet Lab), Samuel Njoroge (Kenya Railways) and Edwin Mudanyi (Vet Lab).<\/p>\n

Limuru\u2019s Joseph Waweru will lead the first tee-off at 9:00 am alongside Nelson Simwa, Erick Ooko Obura (Golf Park), Jacob Okello (Golf Park), Rashid Salim (Mombasa) and Ali Khimji (Sigona). The amateurs include Simon Karari of Limuru and Carl Wambasi (Vet Lab) among others.<\/p>\n

After losing to Naomi Wafula in a sudden death playoff at the Kiambu Open last weekend, Ugandan Godfrey Nsubuga will be chasing his amateur title among other top players on the course.<\/p>\n

Other notable Ugandans are siblings Hussein and Ibrahim Bagalana; James Koto, Marvin Kibirige, David Kamulindwa, and Vincent Byamukama.<\/p>\n
