Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kenya Airways has announced the arrival of some of plane spare parts that had caused disruption of flight schedules.<\/p>\n

Passengers travelling by Kenya Airways this holiday season have had to contend with flight interruption after the national carrier last week revealed that it was short of spare parts.<\/p>\n

KQ had announced that some of its airplanes may remain grounded for a two-week period owing to challenges in acquiring aircraft spare parts.<\/p>\n

KQ Group managing director and CEO Allan Kilavuka has now come out to say that following arrival of some of the spare parts, the airline is gradually resuming normalcy.<\/p>\n

\u201cFurther to our last statement, where we informed you about the improved availability of components, we are delighted to share that we now have a significant number of components,\u201d Kilavuka said in a statement.<\/p>\n

He added that this has enhanced the airlines operational efficiency, allowing the return to service some of the fleet that had been grounded.<\/p>\n

However, Kilavuka noted that disruption management plan is currently being executed in conjunction with pilots and pilots’ union. With full recovery anticipated during this festive season.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe continue working closely with our partners and suppliers to expedite the timely delivery of components. This should keep disruptions, if any, down to a minimum. Recovery from disruptions across our network is still ongoing. Consequently, our flight-deck crew roster has been impacted,\u201d Kilavuka said.<\/p>\n

KQ said All the Boeing 787 Dreamliners fleet are now up and flying. It didn\u2019t however specify the aircraft currently in maintenance or the ones which are still grounded.<\/p>\n

According to ch-aviation, KQ’s fleet comprises 13 Embraer E190s, nine Boeing 787-8s, eight B737-800s, and two B737-300Fs.<\/p>\n

Kenya Airways has 1,723 scheduled flights and 227,554 seats from Nairobi to about 37 destinations this month.<\/p>\n

This is about 241 more flights than in December 2022 but 339 fewer than in December 2019.<\/p>\n
