Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto has assured Kenyans of good results following government’s move to send workers abroad.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Kisii during a thanksgiving Mass on Saturday, the President said his trips abroad have bore fruits as he has secured job opportunities.<\/p>\n

He told off critics of his trips abroad saying they have secured job opportunities.<\/p>\n

Ruto said bilateral talks are in progress with various countries to sign frameworks.<\/p>\n

“I do not travel as a tourist, I travel to seek job opportunities for Kenyans in the whole World. Soon you will see the results.’ he said.<\/p>\n

“Kenyans are widely known for their wonderful work in the whole world that is why many countries would love to work with Kenyans in their companies.”<\/p>\n

The President said that in the next one and a half months, more than 10,000 Kenyans will go abroad for job opportunities.<\/p>\n

He said the country needs an international workforce to stabilise the dollar exchange rate and raise the economy.<\/p>\n

Ruto on Friday said Kenya will soon send the first batch of skilled workers to Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n

He said the Saudi government has this week asked for the first 2,500 skilled workers who will be sent to the Gulf country to work.<\/p>\n

“Yesterday, we agreed with Saudi Arabia that our nurses and skilled workers can now work in Saudi Arabia. Previously, it was domestic workers but now we can export skilled labour and they have given us the first 2,500 opportunities this week,” Ruto said.<\/p>\n

The President added that the jobs come with competitive salaries.<\/p>\n

“I’m now looking for people who will work in Saudi and the salary is almost Sh200,000.”<\/p>\n

The President revealed that the Ministry of Labour will soon announce the opportunities.<\/p>\n

He, however, told off Azimio leader Raila Odinga who came out and criticised the move to seek job opportunities for Kenyans abroad.<\/p>\n

The Opposition leader accused Ruto of exporting young people’s skills and knowledge.<\/p>\n

“Young people with new skills and knowledge that we need are being exported as the government cannot create jobs yet the government sees it as an achievement. It is the responsibility of the government to create jobs in the country not to look for jobs outside,” Raila said.<\/p>\n

“We have a whole President going out there looking for jobs for Kenyans, something is wrong. Today, our people are scrambling to leave the country.”<\/p>\n

While speaking during the launch of the construction of the 12.5-kilometre Riruta-Ngong Commuter Rail line on Friday, Ruto said he will create opportunities everywhere.<\/p>\n

“I heard Raila complaining that I’m taking too many people abroad, where did he think I would get all the jobs from? I had said that we were going to create opportunities everywhere. We are creating opportunities both locally and internationally.”<\/p>\n
