Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Azimio leader Raila Odinga has issued an apology to Rwanda after Roads Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen’s sentiments.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Murkomen stated that Rwanda is an autocracy and that whatever the President says is the law.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Raila has condemned the sentiments saying it is ‘undiplomatic’ language.<\/p>\n

“The coarse language used against the great country and friendly people of Rwanda is most unfortunate. Rwanda is the size of Switzerland and is bigger than Singapore. It is not the size that makes nations but the vision and leadership. To our Rwandese brothers and sisters, we apologize for the sins of a regime intoxicated by power and corruption,” Raila said.<\/p>\n

Raila said that statecraft and diplomacy require a different and more sophisticated etiquette.<\/p>\n

“As a party, we are concerned and disturbed by the direction Kenya Kwanza regime is taking on the global stage. Our country will pay a steep price for this Kenya Kwanza recklessness.”<\/p>\n

Murkomen has come under pressure to issue an apology to Rwanda over the remarks.<\/p>\n

Murkomen said: \u201cYou cannot compare the political situation in Rwanda and the size of the country with our country and our democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The CS’s remarks triggered a statement from the Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing\u2019oei.<\/p>\n

Sing\u2019oei termed Rwandan President Paul Kagame as an iconic leader whose \u201cbold leadership\u201d is admired at home and abroad.<\/p>\n

The PS responded by saying each country within the East African Community has a unique democratic praxis suited to their contexts.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe celebrate this diversity of expressions and institutional arrangements. Rwanda is a key brotherly nation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

After his television remarks, Murkomen went on social media and expressed his admiration for Rwanda\u2019s style of leadership \u201cwhich has made it possible for them to build good infrastructure including a new airport and enforce discipline and order on their roads\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not just Rwanda, countries like UAE, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia among others have a style of leadership that has delivered great success to their people because their leaders have the power to make firm decisions,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
