{"id":10946,"date":"2020-07-10T17:45:13","date_gmt":"2020-07-10T17:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/kenya\/?p=10946"},"modified":"2020-07-10T17:45:13","modified_gmt":"2020-07-10T17:45:13","slug":"kengen-md-rebecca-miano-joins-world-bank-groups-advisory-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/economy\/kengen-md-rebecca-miano-joins-world-bank-groups-advisory-council","title":{"rendered":"KenGen MD Rebecca Miano joins World Bank Group&#8217;s Advisory Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>AfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong> Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen), Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Miano has joined the World Bank Group\u2019s Advisory Council on Gender and Development.<\/p>\n<p>Miano, who is also the brain child of the company\u2019s Pink Energy Initiative becomes a member of the Advisory\u00a0Council\u00a0composed of distinguished representatives of government ministries, the private sector, academia and non-profit institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the Advisory\u00a0Council\u00a0are tasked with looking into progress and constraints to gender equality globally and providing feedback and guidance of the\u00a0bank\u2019s\u00a0work on gender equality and women\u2019s voice.Since its inception in 2011, the\u00a0Council\u00a0has been instrumental in helping the\u00a0bank\u00a0to strengthen its contributions towards closing gaps between men and women.<\/p>\n<p>Miano said she was honoured for the consideration and was looking forward to\u00a0join\u00a0other preeminent members.<\/p>\n<p>The Advisory\u00a0Council\u00a0provides an opportunity to members to influence the direction of the work for the institution and ensuring more focus on results and outcomes aimed at reducing gaps between men and women which is necessary for ending extreme poverty by 2030 and promoting shared prosperity. \u00a0Her appointment to the Advisory\u00a0Council\u00a0is for a period of two years starting July\u00a02020<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AfricaPress-Kenya: Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen), Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Miano has joined the World Bank Group\u2019s Advisory Council on Gender and Development.
