Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Chief Justice Martha Koome, in her end-of-year message to Kenyans has urged a shift in focus for a justice system rooted in Utu, fairness, and compassion.<\/p>\n

“As we say goodbye to 2023, let us take with us into the new year the lessons we have learned and champion a better justice system,” she said.<\/p>\n

She said the justice system with the three pillars is especially important for the vulnerable and marginalised in our society, for whom justice often seems like a distant dream.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Koome noted that the Judiciary has been marked by a steadfast commitment to people-centered justice.<\/p>\n

“We have shaped our interventions to ensure that we have a justice system that is accessible, efficient, and responsive to the justice needs of every Kenyan,” she said.<\/p>\n

Further, the CJ commended the efforts of judges, judicial officers, and staff, whose dedication has been crucial in our drive to attain the goal of excellence.<\/p>\n

She described their efforts as tireless.<\/p>\n

“I wish all Kenyans a reflective and rejuvenating end of the year and a New Year filled with resolve and commitment to the pursuit of the social every citizen.”<\/p>\n

The Judiciary has in 2023 made past judgments on some of the controversial cases, including Finance Act 2023, Housing levy, and the nullification of the position of Chief Administrative Secretaries.<\/p>\n

Others are: the case that involved former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich in the Arror and KImwarer dams.<\/p>\n
