Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Mwingi North MP, Paul Nzengu, has expressed concern over the high number of people dying of lifestyle and non communicable diseases in the constituency.<\/p>\n

In his new year address, Nzengu said diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer can be treated and managed well if diagnosed early.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese three diseases are killing our people at a very high rate. My concern is that many people are not getting tested for them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Nzengu spoke in Malili village in Kyuso subcounty during a party organised to usher in the new year.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnyone aged 40 and above should go for constant medical check up for early detection and treatment,” he said.<\/p>\n

Nzengu said he has received reports that many people fear taking routine tests for noncommunicable and lifestyle diseases.<\/p>\n

“Getting tested will help you confront and manage these diseases in time,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of these tests are not as expensive as people think and they are life saving.”<\/p>\n

Nzengu said cancer can be cured when diagnosed at stage one unlike stage four when it becomes terminal.<\/p>\n

“I have talked to doctors who have told me that cancer can be cured and can only be managed at stage four,” he said.<\/p>\n
