Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has opened up about his relationship with President William Ruto.<\/p>\n

In an interview on Thursday, the lawyer painted an open- kind of relationship with the Head of State.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have discussions with him ( Ruto) and I talk to him often where I give my honest views about his administration,\u201d Ahmednasir said on NTV.<\/p>\n

The Senior Counsel revealed that he has always told the President that the main reason the Kenya Kwanza government wasn\u2019t performing as well as Kenyans thought was his choice of some cabinet members.<\/p>\n

\u201cI give him (Ruto) my views and I think the weakness in my view is, the kind of people he (President) appointed. I think the calibre of some of his people who work for him,” Ahmednasir noted.<\/p>\n

The lawyer went further and described President Ruto as a calculative and political animal.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that in his understanding, the President is very clear to Kenyans on his agenda.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he (Ruto) has his timetable and agenda for everything. And we are going to see a lot of his politics, probably in the second half of this year,\u201d Ahmednasir added.<\/p>\n

The Senior counsel has been vocal in both supporting as well as criticising President Ruto’s actions<\/p>\n

Last month, Ahmednasir highlighted three major issues President William Ruto needed to tackle with urgency.<\/p>\n

Ahmednasir had expressed his concern that there were more critical issues other than stabilising the economy which are now making the Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza administration unpopular.<\/p>\n

“The palpable unpopularity of Ruto’s regime isn’t because fuel is expensive or we have periodic power blackouts, or unga is expensive,” he explained.<\/p>\n

“Ruto’s government faces strong headwinds because the reforms and new governance initiatives UDA promised Kenyans have been thrown out of the window.”<\/p>\n

To get it right, Ahmednasir noted that President Ruto needs to address fixing Kenya’s governance deficit, stopping new corruption in his government and addressing former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s era alleged graft, and consequential national imperatives.<\/p>\n

“Broken law and order, corrupt judiciary, thieving governors, rags to rich state corporations employees and ‘dead’ parliament are some of the areas where the Head of State should look into If he wants to fix Kenya’s governance deficit,” he said.<\/p>\n

Concerning the above, Ahmednasir emphasised that President Ruto needs to dust off his visionary manifesto, reboot his reform agenda and address the three issues he had highlighted.<\/p>\n

“The same can’t wait for tomorrow. The three issues need to be addressed today,” he said.<\/p>\n
