Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>A food order of Sh89, 000 has been ranked as Kenyas most expensive dish that was ordered on a platform in 2023 according to food delivery platform Bolt Food.<\/p>\n

In its annual Bolt Rewind data that offers insights on local transport and delivery trends in Kenya, the firm says distance was no barrier for customers ordering their favourite meal, with the furthest delivery of the year reaching 98 km.<\/p>\n

\u201cBolt Food in Kenya saw the most expensive order of 2023 placed for a total of Sh89, 000 and the largest number of individual Bolt Food orders placed by a customer at over 500 orders,\u201d said Bolt Country Manager Linda Ndungu.<\/p>\n

The most popular day for Food orders across the world was Friday. The most popular Bolt Food order was a cheeseburger, and when it came to groceries, bananas were the global favourite.<\/p>\n

For its ride-hailing business, the most popular pick-up days for Bolt ride hailing globally in 2023 were Friday and Saturday evenings, with most pickups done from airports and train stations.<\/p>\n

There are a number of major online food deliveries and grocery platforms in Kenya, including Uber, Bolt and Glovo, that have gained foothold in the country as internet and smartphone penetration grows, coupled by the uptake of services such as online shopping and deliveries.<\/p>\n

Jumia exited the food delivery business last month, citing challenging operating environment.<\/p>\n

It was a big year for Bolt\u2019s pet category, with over 4.8 million journeys taken with a furry friend.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year, our 150M+ customers helped us take another step towards our mission to make better cities, and not private cars. By choosing shared mobility options like ride-hailing, and Bolt Food for food delivery, we replaced more and more use cases for private cars together,\u201d added Ndungu<\/p>\n

Bolt Food Country Manager, Edgar Kitur, said that the company\u2019s delivery service has not only met but exceeded expectations, setting new standards in efficiency and customer satisfaction.<\/p>\n
