Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Gaspo women’s football team is hoping to turn around their fortunes in their remaining matches in the Kenya Women’s Premier League to avoid relegation to Division One according to club chairman Edward Githua.<\/p>\n

The Gatundu-based side have failed to replicate the blistering form that saw the team finish in the top four in the past three seasons.<\/p>\n

The Kiambu side is languishing at the bottom of the 11-team league following the relegation of Trans Nzoia Falcons.<\/p>\n

The Falcons failed to honour three matches in a row owing to financial challenges and their expulsion from the top tier was untenable.<\/p>\n

Gaspo have managed just one win in nine matches to master a meager five points.<\/p>\n

Free-falling Gaspo have lost on six occasions and drawn twice while a big test awaits them on January 20 when they settle scores with 10th-placed Soccer Assassins. Assassins are three points better off than Gaspo although both teams have played one game less than leaders Vihiga Queens.<\/p>\n

“There’s time to shape our season because we still have many matches to play,” Githua said.<\/p>\n

“We are also resigned to playing in the Division One League. It won’t be the first time we will be relegated. Relegation is not an issue. Wherever we will be playing next season, the players will always give their best.”<\/p>\n

Gaspo shared spoils with Zetech Sparks last weekend after a 1-1 draw and the team is planning to revamp their blunt attack.<\/p>\n
