Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka now says that the Kamwene group within Azimio is an idea that is dead on arrival.<\/p>\n

Kalonzo said that the group comprising Mount Kenya leaders from the Opposition coalition is a terrible political philosophy for anyone to use.<\/p>\n

He advised the group led by Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua to drop the idea and work together as Azimio.<\/p>\n

“I don’t want to pass judgement on that issue but have you heard of things like dead on arrival? This thing means individualism. It’s a terrible political philosophy. I would advice my friends to leave it and we stick together in Azimio,” Kalonzo said.<\/p>\n

His remarks come even as the Kamwene group insists they are strongly rooted in Azimio.<\/p>\n

The group says that it is pushing for the unity of Mt Kenya to push for the regional interests of the Opposition outfit.<\/p>\n

A section of Mt Kenya leaders within Azimio have intensified their unity push under their Kamwene initiative, promising to fight for the interests of their region.<\/p>\n

Speaking during their first major meeting that brought together delegates from the 10 Mt Kenya counties, the leaders told their critics that the Kamwene drive will soon become the voice of Mount Kenya.<\/p>\n

“Politics is about interests,” former Laikipia Governor Nderitu Muriithi said.<\/p>\n

The ex-governor said their unity is about the “interests” of the region and nothing else.<\/p>\n

“What we are about, and we do not want to lie to you, is about the interests. So those detractors who get edgy simply because the mountain is acting together, there is no need to do that,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Politics is about interests and we the people of the mountain stand up in the Republic of Kenya to state our case,” Muriithi added.<\/p>\n

Karua said the leaders are still strong members of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition.<\/p>\n

This was amid speculations that they are plotting an exit strategy from the Raila Odinga-led coalition.<\/p>\n
