Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka now says that he does not believe in anything like payback over his support for Azimio leader Raila Odinga.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Tuesday, Kalonzo said it is every Kenyan\u2019s right to vie for the presidency, should Raila want to give it a sixth shot.<\/p>\n

He also noted that it would be interesting to have the former Prime Minister on the presidential ballot come 2027.<\/p>\n

Kalonzo, however, insisted that they would have to sit down and make tough decisions on how to move forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is everybody’s right including my brother Raila if he so chooses to run (for the presidency) and if that happens that will be very exciting stuff but again we all need to sit down and take a reality check on where we are as a country,” Kalonzo said on KTN News.<\/p>\n

“Do we want to continue doing the same things, the same way and expect results will be different or do we like I did in 2022 take a back step and support Raila and Martha the way I did wholeheartedly?<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t believe in anything like payback or anything. These things you just have to allow natural consequences to happen and that is the direction I\u2019m taking.”<\/p>\n

The former vice president said that everyone is free to run for presidency but he is confident that it will only be a two-horse race between him and Ruto. He added that the President himself has said it.<\/p>\n

On whether he will vie in 2027, Kalonzo said that seems to be the clarion call from many Kenyans.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to jump the gun, I want it to be announced by the party. If the announcement is by the party it gives me a sense of legitimacy and we are calling this as early as the second week of January,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone in this country knows very well who William Ruto’s challenger is and he has made it very clear himself. I am waiting for this endorsement by the party and bring it to fruition. I don\u2019t think the coalition will have a problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

On New Year’s Eve, Kalonzo in an interview said that he would not support a Raila Odinga presidential bid, should he decide to vie in 2027.<\/p>\n

According to Kalonzo, giving up his presidential bid again will mean he retires from politics.<\/p>\n

He insisted that it was not an option for him.<\/p>\n

“Giving up my presidential ambition (for Raila) will mean I go home. It’s as simple as that. Giving up my presidential ambition is not an option. The country is saying so and this time he (William Ruto) better be ready. The country is seeing it, the stars are aligned,” he said.<\/p>\n
