Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Centum Re has spent Sh100 million in its scholarship programme over the last eight years to educate the less privileged in the coast region.<\/p>\n

Through its subsidiary, Vipingo Development Limited, Centum Re says it is presently educating 400 students, with an annual investment exceeding Sh15 million.<\/p>\n

Centum Real Estate Company chief executive officer Kenneth Mbae said a new cohort of 50 students from Vipingo area in Kilifi County will join the program this year.<\/p>\n

The firm says the impact of this scholarship has seen a an improvement in KCPE performance from Vipingo area primary schools.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year, after a rigorous selection process, 50 students were awarded scholarships from 21 primary schools. The scholars are expected to join National and County schools from 15th January 2024,\u201d said Mbae.<\/p>\n

Vipingo Development scholarship programme forms part of Vipingo Development\u2019s broader CSR initiative in the region that has seen the building of classrooms and libraries at four primary schools including Makonde, Timboni, Mkwajuni and Kadzinuni Primary School.<\/p>\n

Vipingo Development also runs a fully sponsored vocational technical training programme aimed at equipping youth from the neighboring community with technical skills.<\/p>\n

To date over 150 youth have received training and graduated and some of whom have since found employment within the development.<\/p>\n
