Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kimilili MP Didimus Barasa has urged his constituency MCAs to submit names of underprivileged students overlooked in the Bungoma County scholarship program.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the launch held at St. Luke\u2019s Boys High School in Kimilili, Barasa commended Governor Kenneth Lusaka for the initiative, expressing confidence that it will provide bright yet needy students with increased access to education.”<\/p>\n

\u201cResources are never enough therefore those who were left out in the scholarship program don\u2019t give up, I\u2019m going to accommodate you on my bursary beneficiaries,\u201d he said on Saturday.<\/p>\n

To prioritize student attendance, MP Barasa disclosed that he temporarily suspended the construction of multi-story classrooms in Kimilili schools.<\/p>\n

He redirected the funds to cover students’ fees, emphasizing that once there is a subsequent NG-CDF disbursement, the focus will shift back to advancing the construction of multi-story classrooms.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have halted my plans to construct storey classrooms in Kimilili schools and pay for the student\u2019s fees and later continue after another NG-CDF disbursement will be made,\u201d Barasa added.<\/p>\n

The UDA MP said that no vetting would be done for those who were left out on the County Scholarship because they had already undergone vetting.<\/p>\n

Barasa, however, used the opportunity to congratulate the teachers for posting stellar results in the just released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) by Education CS Ezekiel Machogu.<\/p>\n

Friends School Kamusinga (FSK) and St. Luke\u2019s boys\u2019 high school in Kimilili Constituency posted the best results in the 2023 KCSE results.<\/p>\n

On his side, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka expressed gratitude to those who excelled with 350 marks and above, securing opportunities for enrollment in the County scholarship.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, he acknowledged the limitation, stating that not everyone can be accommodated in the scholarship program. He highlighted the allocation of Sh180 million for bursaries, ensuring support for those who may not qualify for the scholarship.”<\/p>\n

The Sh250 million is set to support the academic journey of 540 students drawn from the 45 wards in Bungoma.<\/p>\n

Also present were Deputy Governor Jenipher Mbatiany, Education and Vocational training CEC Dr. David Wamamili, MCA\u2019s among others.<\/p>\n
