Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto on Saturday launched a power station and issued enterprise licences to six companies setting up at the Naivasha Special Economic Zone.<\/p>\n

The president, who commissioned 90 MVA Naivasha Special Economic Zone Substation, said he is on course in the quest to transform Kenya into an attractive investment destination and a leader in green industrialisation.<\/p>\n

“By equipping our Special Economic Zones with clean energy and essential infrastructure, we aim to attract foreign direct investments, drive industrial growth and enhance exports,'” the president said.<\/p>\n

“This is how we plan to grow our economy and create jobs for our people.”<\/p>\n

The Substation in Mai Mahiu, Nakuru County, will power industries in the facility at reduced costs.<\/p>\n

The investment, State House said, includes local and foreign investors, injecting a total of Kshs 30 billion into the economic zone.<\/p>\n

The project is set to generate 3,000 jobs across diverse sectors including bottling, EV cars, logistics, power, energy and steel mill.<\/p>\n

Other sectors include plant essence extraction and a regional car auction centre.<\/p>\n

“Under the President’s economic reforms, Kenya is now the top choice for investors, offering stability and growth,” State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said on X.<\/p>\n

He said that the country’s GDP is booming at 5.4 per cent, ranking 29th globally according to the World Bank.<\/p>\n

“Kenya is the 3rd position as a top global destination for FDI in 2024 and leads Africa in startup capital securing $800 million in 2023,” Mohamed said.<\/p>\n

Mohamed said the successes highlight the country’s vibrant entrepreneurial landscape.<\/p>\n

The President is accompanied on the tour by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Cabinet Secretaries Davis Chirchir, Rebecca Miano and Zacharia Njeru.<\/p>\n

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika, MPs and MCAs are also present.<\/p>\n
