Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto has told the Opposition to cease fighting his development programmes and instead give alternatives to government plans.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Sunday during an interdenominational prayer service in Busia, the President said organising demonstrations will not help youths with employment.<\/p>\n

“They told me not to do the housing plan, digital jobs and others. I asked them their plan and they said they are organising demonstrations. Will demos create employment? he posed.<\/p>\n

“Those in Opposition should stop influencing Kenyans with demonstrations and instead give us their alternative plan to create jobs for millions of Kenyans.”<\/p>\n

The President added that the Kenya Kwanza government plans to create employment through housing, digital jobs, ICT hubs, labour export and agriculture to create jobs.<\/p>\n

“What is their alternative plan? That is the big question.”<\/p>\n

Ruto asked the youths to take advantage of advertised government jobs and apply.<\/p>\n

The President has on several occasions urged Kenyans to embrace government’s programmes that will create employment.<\/p>\n

The President said there is need for urgent, intentional and strategic measures to address unemployment in the country.<\/p>\n

He said the government has identified the Affordable Housing Programme, digital jobs and export of labour as some of the programmes that will be exploited to create jobs.<\/p>\n

“Unless we intentionally work on programmes that create jobs, we will continue to have millions of our young people in the streets jobless as the unemployment crisis escalates,” he said on Wednesday while speaking in Kitale.<\/p>\n

The President noted that the government is setting up ICT hubs in every ward to equip the youth with the necessary digital skills to tap into online opportunities.<\/p>\n

He said the digital hubs have already enabled 119,000 youth to access digital jobs.<\/p>\n

“We urge those who have undergone training in these hubs to mentor others so that we can reach as many youth as possible,” he said.<\/p>\n
