Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reiterated his call on Kenya Kwanza leaders to transcend the distractive politics of succession.<\/p>\n

Gachagua emphasised the need for a collective focus on substantive issues that will propel the nation forward.<\/p>\n

Addressing the press Tuesday after a meeting with the ward representatives from Nyandarua, the DP said those who want to lead should instead join him in fixing the problems facing the people, especially from the Central region.<\/p>\n

He noted that drug abuse and illicit brews were threatening to wipe out generations in the region.<\/p>\n

Expressing his disappointment over its timing, the DP termed the talks as juvenile<\/p>\n

\u201cLet us not be transfixed with childish politics of succession and elections. We have barely come from the elections, one and half years, people want service. Tuwachane na hiyo maneno,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Gachagua\u2019s remark comes amidst an ongoing political debate where a section of leaders from the region have endorsed Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro to serve as President William Ruto\u2019s deputy in 2027.<\/p>\n

Murang\u2019a Senator Joe Nyutu and Gatanga MP Edward Muriu contend that Ruto’s prospects for re-election could face challenges if Gachagua is maintained as his deputy.<\/p>\n

Nyutu highlighted the importance of Murang\u2019a\u2019s recognition in national politics, advocating for Ndindi Nyoro as a preferable choice over Gachagua.<\/p>\n

“We will request Ruto to choose a young person from Murang\u2019a who is Ndindi Nyoro,” Nyutu stated.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the need for fairness and accountability, Nyutu insisted that the nomination process for the 2027 election should be impartial, without special privileges for any individual.<\/p>\n

MP Muriu further emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of Murang\u2019a’s mothers, advocating for the selection of a youthful candidate like Ndindi Nyoro.<\/p>\n

Nyoro has since received a major endorsement from MPs from Ruto\u2019s Rift Valley backyard.<\/p>\n

While he has not publicly stated the seat he is eyeing, there are rumours he is either being groomed or plotting to topple Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in Mt Kenya and possibly succeed Ruto in 2032.<\/p>\n

Belgut MP Nelson Koech urged him to continue traversing the country popularizing himself the same way he did with President Ruto during the 2022 campaigns.<\/p>\n

\u201cTukifika hapo mbele na tuone uko sawa, what is the problem…watu ni wale wale, wenye waliombea Ruto wataangalia maneno yako,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Konoin MP Brighton Yegon voiced similar sentiments saying Nyoro\u2019s development record speaks volumes as he thanked him for standing with Ruto during the last election.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been to your constituency and we have seen what you have done… I recently heard an ODM MP talking about 2027 and I want to tell him that Raila should wait, I don’t know for what long but until Nyoro becomes the president first… I don’t know the year,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
