Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has alleged that the Kenya Kwanza government is plotting to weaken the party by denying them funds to run its affairs.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Diani, Kwale County, Sifuna said the government has not paid the ODM party Sh10 billion making it hard for it to run effectively.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe state is frustrating the opposition parties by cutting down their budgets and delaying disbursing funds,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

According to Sifuna, the party is faced with a myriad of challenges because of a lack of funding.<\/p>\n

The Nairobi senator said the party activities at the grassroots have stuck because the government is starving it.<\/p>\n

Sifuna said they had plans of re-establishing the party and ensuring they launch offices countrywide but stalled since money is not there.<\/p>\n

“Kenya Kwanza government wants to destabilize political parties especially ODM because we were looking forward to open offices at county, constituency and ward levels but we have stalled,” he said.<\/p>\n

He spoke while accompanying ODM leader Raila Odinga for a mass recruitment drive in Kwale<\/p>\n

Raila said the ODM party will emerge victorious no matter how Ruto\u2019s administration wants to sabotage it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are determined to make the party stronger despite the challenges we have,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Raila said he has tasked every leader to ensure more Kenyans are registered as ODM members across the country.<\/p>\n

He said it has been a while since they conducted recruitment and that the exercise will see many Kenyans enrolled to strengthen the party at both national and grassroots levels.<\/p>\n

Raila also urged ODM leaders to focus on stabilizing the party and realizing its agenda.<\/p>\n

He said they should remain vigilant and loyal to the party.<\/p>\n

The ODM leaders said the party members should shun working with the Kenya Kwanza government adding that they will be tricked, used and dumped.<\/p>\n

Raila was in the morning at Kwale Baraza Park in Matuga where he chaired the distribution of bursary cheques to 502 students, NGAAF grants to 19 youth, women and vulnerable groups and last issued 18 car wash machines, 25 water tanks and eight sewing machines.<\/p>\n

He was also accompanied by ODM Deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya, Kwale Senator Issa Boi, and Kwale woman rep Fatuma Masito among others.<\/p>\n
