Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto has expressed his condolences on the passing of Namibia President Hage Geingob.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Sunday, Ruto eulogised Geingob as a dedicated leader who was focused on serving his people.<\/p>\n

“I extend my deepest condolences and sympathy to the family and the people of Namibia following the death of President Hage Geingob,” he said.<\/p>\n

The Head of State further described the late President as a believer of a unified Africa, who strongly promoted the continent\u2019s voice and visibility in the global arena.<\/p>\n

“May God give the people of Namibia strength and courage during this difficult period. Rest In Peace,” Ruto stated.<\/p>\n

First Lady Rachel Ruto highlighted that Geingob’s leadership and dedication to the advancement of Namibia will be fondly remembered and deeply cherished on the continent and beyond.<\/p>\n

She stated that his legacy serves as a beacon of inspiration and guidance during this challenging time.<\/p>\n

“My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and a dear sister to me, H.E. Monica Geingos, his children, his family, and the entire nation of Namibia. May God grant you strength, comfort, and peace in the midst of this loss,” Rachel said.<\/p>\n

President Geingob passed away on Sunday at Lady Pohamba Hospital.<\/p>\n

The 82-year-old leader, surrounded by his wife, Madame Monica Geingos, and children, succumbed to his battle with cancer at approximately 12:04 am.<\/p>\n

Vice President Nangolo Mbumba, delivering the somber news, expressed deep regret, stating, “It is with utmost sadness that I inform you that our beloved Dr. Hage G. Geingob has passed on. Despite the tireless efforts of his medical team, President Geingob, sadly, did not recover.”<\/p>\n

President Geingob returned from the United States of America on January 31, 2024, following a two-day novel treatment for cancerous cells.<\/p>\n

He had courageously disclosed his diagnosis to the public just a month ago.<\/p>\n

Having assumed office in 2015, Geingob was in his second and final term, serving as the chief architect of Namibia’s Constitution and a pivotal figure in the liberation struggle.<\/p>\n
