Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Equity Bank Dumas are getting better and will kick start a serious title campaign when they start their second leg matches, coach Carey Oketch said.<\/p>\n

The long-serving tactician said the bankers, who have won seven of their 11 first-leg matches, are getting better as a group and will once again challenge for the title.<\/p>\n

Dumas fell to champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in last year\u2019s playoff finals. They are fourth on the log with 18 points having won seven of their 11 matches played so far.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am happy with how the first leg fixtures have gone. We must pick it up from where we left off when the second leg starts. We will go all out for it,\u201d Oketch offered.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast year, we were down but we have fixed our house including the technical issues and built a new team approach. We are getting better as a group.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dumas ended their first-leg fixtures with a strong display, blanking Kenyatta University Pirates 84-42 in a one-sided premier league tie at Nyayo.<\/p>\n

From the moment that Ivan Obimbo scored the opening basket, the result against the students was never in doubt as they rolled away to a 31-3 in the first quarter lead.<\/p>\n

KU, who have won only one of their 10 games, regrouped to take the second quarter with a 22-16 display but that was all they had to offer. After the break, they went on to trail 20-11 and 17-6 in the last two quarters.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is our third game of the day. We have played two games in the varsity league earlier where I lost two players including my big man on injuries,\u201d said KU coach Hanington Sitati.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are growing. We take the loss and we move on. We are not giving up on them. Said the ex-KU forward.<\/p>\n

Davis Siaji scored 17 points, Titus Musembi shot 15, Thomas Kioko and Victor Ochieng tallied 12 each while Moses Odhiambo added 11.<\/p>\n

In the lower division matches, Stanbic Shields dismissed Neosasa 77-43, Zetech University Titans pipped Coastal Kings 48-44 and Congo Nets beat Urbanville 57-53.<\/p>\n

The women’s match saw Safe Spaces continue their push with a well-taken 66-45 win over Vipers while Kisumu Lady Bucks thrashed Multi Media University (MMU) 63-26.<\/p>\n
