Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>At least 10 gas refilling premises within the Nairobi estate have been shut down.<\/p>\n

The closure comes within 24 hours after Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja issued the directive that the premises operate within a 200-metre radius of any residential premise.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere must be order in the city and so far we have closed ten gas refilling premises operating within Nairobi estates,\u201d he said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven If it is not the duty of the county to issue licenses to such premises, we shall not allow them within the residential estates,\u201d Sakaja added.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Mutuini, Sakaja called in Nairobi residents to report some of these premises to City Hall.<\/p>\n

He commended some residents who have been using social platforms to report such premises.<\/p>\n

The county boss further urged operators with such businesses to station their operations in the areas required by law.<\/p>\n

Sakaja was speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Mutuini market.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, Sakaja assured Nairobi residents that the county government is ready to face any emergencies.<\/p>\n

In an interview on Radio Jambo, Sakaja emphasised that his administration is prepared to provide adequate services in the case of any emergency.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very much prepared for emergencies,\u201d he affirmed.<\/p>\n

Sakaja\u2019s assurance comes in the wake of a fire incident in Embakasi’s Mradi area last Thursday night that has so far claimed seven lives.<\/p>\n
