Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto has accepted an invitation from US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden for his first State visit in May.<\/p>\n

Biden extended the invite to Ruto and First Lady Rachael Ruto to the White House on May 23.<\/p>\n

Ruto said he looks forward to the trip.<\/p>\n

“On behalf of the people and government of the Republic of Kenya, I convey my deep appreciation to @POTUS and @FLOTUS of the United States of America, for undertaking to host me at the White House, during a State Visit to the United States of America on May 23, 2024,” Ruto said in a statement.<\/p>\n

In a statement released by Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, Biden said the visit will provide an opportunity for the two governments to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations which began at the dawn of Kenya’s independence.<\/p>\n

Ruto said he looks forward to engaging with President Biden on a broad range of matters of mutual interest to both countries.<\/p>\n

“Not just in terms of sectors of economic, political and diplomatic spheres of endeavour, but also concerning our shared commitment to the fundamental values which define the strong policy convergence and robust strategic alignment of our enterprises, peoples and governments.”<\/p>\n

Ruto said Kenya views the State visit as a high-profile opportunity to articulate a new era of dynamic partnership aimed at transforming trade and investment, green energy and climate action and digital technology and innovation.<\/p>\n

The President added that discussions will also center on health and human development, peace and security as well as multilateralism and collective action to deliver shared prosperity for Kenya, Africa the Global South and the entire world.<\/p>\n
