Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has said that Kenya needs leaders who focus on the future and not the past.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Saturday during the memorial service of Mama Lucy Wanjiru Muhinga at the Foothills School in Kipipiri, Nyandarua, Uhuru said leaders who focus on the past will not take the country anywhere.<\/p>\n

He insisted that only leaders who have visions can provide solutions to the challenges Kenyans are experiencing.<\/p>\n

The former Head of state also noted that he wishes those who are currently serving in various positions of leadership well.<\/p>\n

“Kenya is home. We wish those who are there well but when I was in leadership I used to tell people one thing, if you are a leader you have been given a steering wheel to drive if it is Nyandarua county, if it is this constituency, if it is Kenya or anywhere. A good leader holds the steering wheel and looks ahead, not every time looking at the rearview to see where they have come from,” Uhuru said.<\/p>\n

“You look ahead. If you are a person driving a car looking at the rearview, you are a person who drives the car into a ditch. You are going nowhere. You are taking the country nowhere. The country needs leaders who have vision because that is what will be useful to solve the problems Kenyans are facing,” Uhuru said.<\/p>\n

Several leaders from the Kenya Kwanza administration have been blaming the former regime for the economic struggles Kenya is currently facing.<\/p>\n

Since they came to power, President William Ruto led administration has on several occasions blamed the current economic crisis on the past regime.<\/p>\n

However, Uhuru has since told the Kenya Kwanza government not to blame his administration for their failures.<\/p>\n

The former Head of State said the current government should address the problems facing Kenyans instead of heaping everything on the past regime.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery time one is unable to do what he should do they blame the past government, [with this trend] even if the wife has refused to give birth it will be blamed on us, but we are used to this,\u201d Uhuru said.<\/p>\n

As former Head of State, Uhuru said, all he can do is to pray for Kenya and the unity of the nation.<\/p>\n
