Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto on Tuesday revealed why he invited Governors to the National Executive Retreat in Naivasha, Nakuru.<\/p>\n

Addressing the Governors and members of the Executive, the President stated that counties are partners to the national government.<\/p>\n

“The reason why we asked the council to come and have a session with us as we have these national government executive retreats is because I wanted ministers here and their principal secretaries to understand that the counties are our partners, not competitors,” Ruto said.<\/p>\n

The Head of State explained that the counties are partners of the national government and there was a big opportunity for them to work together.<\/p>\n

Going further, President Ruto encouraged his CSs and principal secretaries to work with counties.<\/p>\n

He noted that his administration has not had a lot of success in some areas because counties were ignored.<\/p>\n

“It is good for principals, secretaries who are here, and Cabinet Secretaries to understand and I wanted to say this in the presence of the leadership of the Council of Governors so that you know that we view the county governments as an asset and as an ally and a partner for us in the delivery of the plan for the people of Kenya and the transformation of our country,” Ruto explained.<\/p>\n

Earlier on, Ruto insisted that he was fully behind Devolution.<\/p>\n

The President made it clear that with politics aside, all governors should know that he supports devolution.<\/p>\n

“Let me repeat for the umpteenth time that at a personal level, this administration supports devolution 100 per cent,” he said<\/p>\n

“You should never have any doubt as to our support for devolution. You know there is pull and push, which politics is all about but my support for evolution remains intact.”<\/p>\n

The President was speaking as he hosted governors during day two of the National Executive Retreat in Naivasha, Nakuru.
