Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto has once again insisted that he is fully behind Devolution. https:\/\/rb.gy\/jexhrh<\/p>\n

President William Ruto has once again insisted that he is fully behind Devolution.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Naivasha on Tuesday, Ruto made it clear that with politics aside, all governors should know that he supports devolution.<\/p>\n

“Let me repeat for the umpteenth time that at a personal level and this administration, we support devolution 100 per cent,” he said<\/p>\n

You should never have any doubt as to our support for devolution. You know there is pull and push, which politics is all about but my support for evolution remains intact,” Ruto said.<\/p>\n

The President was speaking as he hosted governors during day two of the National Executive Retreat in Naivasha, Nakuru.<\/p>\n

The Head of State acknowledged that witnessing pull and pull between some counties which he said will always be there.<\/p>\n

“This kind of things always happen but we must never mistake those them as any part of government trying to work against the next level of government,” Ruto added.<\/p>\n

Last year in September, the President demonstrated his support for Devolution and its services.<\/p>\n

Speaking at Uhuru Park in Nairobi, Ruto made it clear that Devolution would be upheld during his tenure.<\/p>\n

The head of state commended county governments for doing exemplary in health matters as compared to when it was handled by the National government<\/p>\n

“I have no intention whatsoever of killing devolution. Take it from me. Counties have done a good job in delivering health services as compared to when the national government was providing the services,” he said.<\/p>\n

In December, the President reiterated the government\u2019s commitment to bolstering intergovernmental relations to strengthen devolution.<\/p>\n

Ruto said his administration has effectively supported county governments to enhance their capacity to deliver services to the people.<\/p>\n

He noted that the successful collaboration between the national and county governments will foster socio-economic transformation at the grassroots, advancing the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that our country\u2019s fortunes, to a decisive extent, are dependent on how we manage the devolution of national power and resources,\u201dRuto said.
