Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Chief Justice Martha Koome has called for the building of monuments in honour of the country\u2019s heroes.<\/p>\n

Koome said the monuments serve as a bridge between the past and the future, allowing heroes’ legacies to live on for posterity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey stand as enduring symbols of our collective memory, ensuring future generations remember and draw inspiration from the valour and sacrifices of those who came before them,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Koome urged National Heroes Council to prioritise the monuments since they are beacons of Kenya\u2019s history and values citizens hold.<\/p>\n

She spoke on Thursday during the swearing-in of Hussein Kadida as a member of the National Heroes\u2019 Council.<\/p>\n

The ouncil is tasked with the solemn duty of identifying, selecting, recognising and honouring national heroes.<\/p>\n

This includes the preservation of monuments and sites that hold historical significance to the country.<\/p>\n

Koome said construction of monuments for heroes is an essential aspect of the country\u2019s cultural legacy.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuch recognition is not only an act of gratitude but also a crucial step in preserving our national heritage and identity,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The chief justice urged the council to also establish categories of heroes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis task is not merely administrative but profoundly significant. It is a call to recognise diversity in heroism, acknowledging that greatness comes in many forms and from various facets of our society. I encourage the council to categorise heroes while they are still among us,\u201d Koome urged.<\/p>\n

She said it is imperative that Kenya establishes an enduring trend, culture and practice of identifying, celebrating, and supporting heroes and heroines.<\/p>\n
