Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Nairobi’s Woodley MCA Davidson Ngibuini popularly known as DNG has penned an open letter to President William Ruto, expressing his opposition to the planned demolition of informal trading places (vibandas) in his ward.<\/p>\n

The demolitions which is set to take place on Saturday (today) along the Ngong Road-Kibera-Langata Link Road will be carried out by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA).<\/p>\n

“I am perplexed at how such a poor and irrational decision can be made with full understanding that the Kenya Kwanza Government is a hustler regime,” DNG stated, emphasizing the shared commitment to the ‘Every Hustle Matters’ ethos of the Kazi Ni Kazi platform.<\/p>\n

The MCA also drew attention to what he termed as a contradiction between the ruling party’s symbol, the wheelbarrow, and the actions of a government agency, labeling the planned evictions as a betrayal of promises made to citizens.<\/p>\n

The UDA legislator questioned the selective and punitive nature of KURA’s decision, specifically targeting his ward.<\/p>\n

He described the move as a breach of trust and a manifestation of poor governance.<\/p>\n

In proposing an alternative solution, DNG recommended construction of modern kiosks along Ngong Road and the link road.<\/p>\n

Despite receiving approval from county authorities and positive responses from traders and residents, the project has been hindered by KURA’s lack of approval, a matter the MCA urged President Ruto to address.<\/p>\n

“Your government will be judged by how it handled the weakest, the poorest, and the most vulnerable of its population. This decision by KURA goes against everything we believe in and stand for,” DNG added.<\/p>\n

In addition, he called on President Ruto to directly intervene, preventing the demolitions and evictions, thereby preserving the dignity and livelihoods of the hustlers and upholding the values and promises of the UDA government.<\/p>\n
