Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua says her party is supporting Azimio Leader Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union chairmanship adding that there won\u2019t be a leadership vacuum in the Azimio Coalition.<\/p>\n

Karua described Raila as a competent leader who has what it takes to take over the leadership of the African Union.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Kutus on Friday when she met Narc-K delegates in Gichugu, Karua called on all Kenyans to throw their weight behind Raila saying he has wide experience on matters of leadership both locally and internationally which places him in a good position to steer AU.<\/p>\n

She, however, reminded the government that even in Raila\u2019s absence, the opposition will continue holding the government accountable to Kenyans.<\/p>\n

Karua said Kenyans should not think that the departure of Raila will weaken the Opposition.<\/p>\n

She said they will continue to oppose the government which she said has failed to address the plight of suffering Kenyans.<\/p>\n

The Narc Kenya leader stressed that it was a sacred duty of the opposition with the backing of the citizens to stand firm and unwaveringly in holding those in public offices into account.<\/p>\n

Karua lamented that Kenyans continue to be overburdened with high cost of living yet the government was doing nothing to address the problem.<\/p>\n

She said the Kenya Kwanza regime has continued to oppress Kenyans with high taxation.<\/p>\n

Karua also condemned the excessive use of force by police during doctors\u2019 protests on Thursday and expressed concern over the violence meted out by KMPDU Secretary General Dr Davji Atellah.<\/p>\n

Karua demanded that the Ruto administration respect the constitutional rights of health workers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey want to take us back to the dark days of KANU,\u201d Karua said.<\/p>\n

She said the government of the day should hear doctors\u2019 cry as they were protesting the delay in posting medical interns by the Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n

Karua further said the Kikuyu culture was under threat following the arrest of women who had gone to the Kikuyu shrine in Murang’a saying the leaders would fight for the protection of the rights of residents of Mt Kenya region.<\/p>\n

She said Mt Kenya leaders will hold Limuru 3 meetings so as to address the problems facing the region.<\/p>\n
