Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Two Kirinyaga leaders have called on President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua to support Azimio leader Raila Odinga in his African Union Commission chairmanship bid.<\/p>\n

Kirinyaga Central MP Gachoki Gitari and Mutira MCA Kinyua Wangui said Raila\u2019s success will help calm political temperatures and called on the two leaders to lead the campaigns.<\/p>\n

Gitari said Raila\u2019s success will create a conducive environment for Ruto and Gachagua to serve Kenyans better.<\/p>\n

He said the people of Kirinyaga central are okay with the president and his deputy working robustly to ensure Raila gets the AU chairmanship.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will ensure we have a nation without a lot of (political) pressure so that we can deliver for our people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Wangui said the two leaders should work hand in hand with Raila to ensure he captures the seat.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have no issues with him (Raila) as the Kikuyu community and we, therefore, call upon the president and his deputy to campaign for him vigorously in the entire African continent and ensure he succeeds,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said Raila is a Kenyan and that the government should even consider using state resources to campaign for him.<\/p>\n

Raila, Wangui said, should also reciprocate by ensuring that he puts all Kenyans first if he gets the job.<\/p>\n

They spoke during the disbursement of bursary cheques at the CDF grounds at Kerugoya town in Kirinyaga county Friday.<\/p>\n

He disbursed cheques worth a total of Sh59.2 million with each day scholar getting Sh5,000 while borders received Sh6,000 each.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday I am delighted to announce that I am awarding the biggest bursary ever given in the history of Kirinyaga Central,\u201d said the MP.<\/p>\n
