Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua had a busy week that saw him attend a Cabinet Meeting and reveal how his boss President William Ruto pushes him to wake up at 4 am daily.<\/p>\n

It was an exceptional marathon seven days of hectic schedules for Gachagua including addressing the inaugural meeting of Kenya Kwanza Members of the County Assemblies.<\/p>\n

The meeting held at State House on Monday, was chaired by President Ruto.<\/p>\n

It was the first of its kind with MCAs since romping to power in 2022.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Kericho on Thursday during the commissioning of the Kapsuser-Sosiot Road, Gachagua said he nowadays wakes up at 4 am.<\/p>\n

He said members of the Cabinet wake up an hour earlier, at 3 am.<\/p>\n

In a jest Gachagua asked residents of Kericho to plead with the President to push his wake-up time to 5 am, citing old age.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a bit old, and also I\u2019m a pastor\u2019s husband, I should not be waking up too early,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The DP started the week with a Sunday church service in his Embu turf where he affirmed the government\u2019s desire to collaborate with churches across the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe contribution by our churches to the nation’s social and economic growth is noteworthy,\u201d he posted on his X account.<\/p>\n

Gachagua said that as part of the government\u2019s deliberate interventions to empower the youth, the expansion of the Technical and Vocational Education Training programme will continue.<\/p>\n

He said the programme has seen thousands of Kenyan youths gain crucial skills to better their lives.<\/p>\n

The service at the ACK St Francis Ciamanda Church in Runyenjes, Embu County also served as a Thanksgiving Service for Technical and Vocational Education Training Principal Secretary Esther Mworia.<\/p>\n

The Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, Embu Senator Alex Mundigi, and Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei were among the key leaders who attended the service.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Gachagua joined President Ruto at the State House for a meeting with the Kenya Kwanza Members of the County Assembly.<\/p>\n

\u201cDevelopment Agenda focuses on the Bottom of the socio-economic pyramid. To deliver, consultation with grassroots leadership remains crucial,\u201d Gachagua posted on his X account after the meeting.<\/p>\n

Gachagua said that the purpose of the meeting was to engage MCAs in aligning strategic policy interventions and development focus areas of the National Government with the counties.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue engaging leaders at all levels for shared understanding and implementation of the Plan,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Earlier Tuesday morning Gachagua chaired the joint Cabinet Committee Meeting at his Karen Official Residence.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrequent assessment of programmes and projects rolled out by the Government will ensure synchronised implementation and faster achievement of our Administration’s agenda in line with the people’s expectations,\u2019\u2019 Gachagua posted on his X account.<\/p>\n

During the session, the DP spared some time off to celebrate Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen\u2019s birthday.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday evening, Gachagua condoled with the family of retired Narok Governor Samuel Tunai following the death of his mother Mama Anna Nolparokuo.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019The pain of losing a parent is immense,\u2019\u2019 Gachagu wrote on his X account after visiting the Tunai family at their Nairobi residence.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019We pray for God’s grace and favour to be upon Hon Tunai and his family during this difficult time of grief.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Gachagua attended a Cabinet Meeting at the State House chaired by President Ruto.<\/p>\n

The Cabinet approved radical measures to crack down on illegal brews and drug abuse across the country.<\/p>\n

That evening, Gachagua condoled with the family of James Gakuya, the MP for Embakasi North at Marurui, Thome estate, Nairobi.<\/p>\n

This followed the death of Gakuya\u2019s brother David Gakuya Mwangi.<\/p>\n

The DP said his boss had sent his message of sympathy to the bereaved family and wished them strength during the difficult time.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019May the Gakuya family find peace during this sad moment. We pray that the Almighty God Rest the soul of the departed In Eternal Peace,\u2019\u2019 Gachagua said.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Gachagua accompanied President Ruto on his tour of Kericho county.<\/p>\n

The DP witnessed as the president launched some development projects in the devolved unit, including the Kapsuser-Sosiot Road, Belgut Constituency commissioning.<\/p>\n

The DP was also president when Ruto unveiled the Konza Digital Skills Laboratory at Belgut Technical Training Institute in Kericho County.<\/p>\n

They also officially opened the institute that was under construction.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019This and other institutions that the President has launched across the country will spur development under the Digital Economy,\u2019\u2019 Gachagua said on his X account.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019Expanding and equipping institutions offering digital skills increases employability and productivity of our people, more so the youth.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
