Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The hosts beat Rongo 20-15 while Daystar were 18-14 winners against KU in the semifinals.<\/p>\n

The hosts won both the men’s and women’s volleyball titles. They capitalised on the home advantage to beat Kirinyaga University 3-1 (21-25, 25-14, 25-15 and 2-15) for the women’s title.<\/p>\n

Coach Kevin Mulinya said the victory came after hard training. \u201cWe have been preparing for this for many years and I am happy with the results,” he said adding that they were placed fourth last year. University of Nairobi beat Maseno 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 25-22 and 25-19) to take home the bronze.<\/p>\n

The men’s team beat Chuka University 3-1 (25-14, 22-25, 25-18 and 25-180 to lift the crown. Kisii and KU won the women’s and men’s netball titles.<\/p>\n

Kisii beat Mt. Kenya University 44-41 to win the women’s title after extra time play following a 35-35 stalemate at the final whistle. On the other hand, KU men beat Kisii 31-21 for the title.<\/p>\n

Julius Chiunda\u2019s last-minute shot handed Kenyatta University men’s handball title as the Kenya Universities Sports Federation Games concluded on Sunday at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST).<\/p>\n

With the match tied at 22-22 against the champions, the University of Eldoret, Chiunda capitalised on the foul outside box, to beat the keeper and win 23-22 just before the whistle.<\/p>\n

Head coach Robert Osano said the last time they won the title was in 2021. In the playoffs, Kisii beat Egerton 21-14 for the bronze medal. In the semifinals, the champions defeated Egerton 17-12 while UOE were 23-15 winners against Kisii.<\/p>\n

In girls’ handball, Daystar beat MMUST 20-11. Head coach Martin Kamau promised to improve to make amends that will see them retain their title next year.<\/p>\n

Competing in the first season, Kamau said the team has maintained an unbeaten run from their conference matches to the national.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast season, we finished seventh at the conference and this forced us to go back to the drawing board. I am happy our hard work has paid off,\u201d said Kamau.<\/p>\n
