Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto on Monday evening hosted Muslim leaders for the Iftar Dinner at State House, Nairobi.<\/p>\n

Iftar is the fast-breaking evening meal of Muslims in Ramadan.<\/p>\n

The event began around 7pm as reports indicated that the Muslim community would celebrate Eid Al Fitr on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.<\/p>\n

This after the crescent Moon was reported not sighted in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n

Sighting of the crescent Moon marks the beginning of the Islamic lunar month.<\/p>\n

An Islamic month can have either 29 or 30 days depending on when the new crescent Moon is first visible.<\/p>\n

But just as sunset and sunrise, the new crescent visibility varies worldwide so not everyone is able to see it at the same time or even on the same day.<\/p>\n

This variation can lead to some countries marking Ramadan and Eid on different dates.<\/p>\n
