Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party leader Eugene Wamalwa has called on the UDA party to postpone scheduled grassroots elections owing to ongoing rains.<\/p>\n

The former Defence CS while lauding the government for postponing the reopening of schools said it’s time the flooding crisis in the country is declared a national disaster.<\/p>\n

The former CS said it is time the National Government trained its guns on the flooding issue, ostensibly to save lives and prevent loss of properties.<\/p>\n

\u201cPostponement of opening schools by the education CS is the right thing to do in the circumstances for the safety of all schools going children in Kenya,\u201d he said in a tweet.<\/p>\n

\u201cPostponement of UDA elections as the ODM party did, declare the flooding crisis a National disaster, turning all focus and applying an all-hands-on-deck approach to this crisis would also be the right thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

The United Democratic Alliance party commenced phase one of its grassroots elections on Friday, April 26.<\/p>\n

The grassroots polls took place in five counties namely, Nairobi, Busia, Narok, West Pokot, and Homa Bay.<\/p>\n

UDA will hold the second phase of its grassroots election on June 22, in 13 counties namely; Mombasa, Uasin Gishu, Nyandarua, Tharaka Nithi, Machakos, Kisii, Bungoma, Siaya, Taita Taveta, Wajir, Tana River, Kwale and Marsabit.<\/p>\n

For the third phase, the elections will be held in Kiambu, Embu, Kericho, Meru, Migori, Kakamega, Nyamira, Kitui, Elgeyo Marakwet, Samburu, Kajiado, Mandera, Kilifi, Murang\u2019a and Lamu on August 10, 2024;<\/p>\n

The last phase will take place on August 24, 2024 in 12 counties.<\/p>\n

The are Nakuru, Bomet, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Nandi, Baringo, Turkana, Laikipia, Trans-Nzoia, Kisumu, Vihiga and Makueni<\/p>\n
