Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kenya has been appointed vice president of the Eastern Africa Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities Executive Committee.<\/p>\n

The country will serve in the position for the next two years.<\/p>\n

The appointment was made during the 15th Annual General Meeting of EAAACA, currently underway in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.<\/p>\n

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is participating in the meeting.<\/p>\n

This year’s meeting brings together heads of anti-corruption agencies from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Djibouti, South Sudan, Burundi and Somalia.<\/p>\n

They are holding the meeting to discuss the modalities of strengthening regional cooperation in the fight against corruption.<\/p>\n

The EACC delegation is led by Director of Field Services and Coordination Jackson Kaunda Mue.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Mue made a presentation on coordination, collaboration and cooperation in asset recovery.<\/p>\n

As a regional model in the recovery of unexplained wealth and corruptly acquired assets, EACC continues to share its experience and best practices with other countries.<\/p>\n

In January, Kenya was selected to host a key regional anti-corruption body namely the Centre for Anti-Corruption Studies and Research in Africa.<\/p>\n

The body will be set up by the African Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (AAACA).<\/p>\n

The resolution of the General Assembly of the AAACA during its extraordinary meeting was held on January 9, 2024.<\/p>\n

It acknowledged Kenya\u2019s commitment to international and regional legal instruments against corruption by establishing key anti-corruption structures and recording significant milestones in law enforcement, prevention and recovery of corruptly acquired assets.<\/p>\n
