Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President William Ruto has revoked the appointment of former West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi Mogaka as Kenya’s High Representative to Ghana.<\/p>\n

Mogaka’s name was struck from a new gazette notice dated May 3, 2024, announcing the names of appointed High Commissioners, Ambassadors, Permanent Representatives and Consuls-General who will serve in Kenya\u2019s Foreign Missions.<\/p>\n

Mogaka was included in the list of appointed envoys in Gazette Notice No. 5162.<\/p>\n

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 132 (2) (e) of the constitution, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoints the following persons to be High Commissioners, Ambassadors, Permanent Representatives and Consuls-General in Kenya\u2019s Foreign Missions. Gazette Notice No. 5162 of 2024 is revoked,” Gazette Notice number 5351, which excluded Mogaka, stated.<\/p>\n

Sources at State House told the Star the former MP’s name was included in the earlier gazette notice by mistake.<\/p>\n

Mogaka had turned down the appointment of as High representative due to personal reasons.<\/p>\n

All nominated persons were vetted by the National Assembly and approved save for Mogaka who did not turn up.<\/p>\n

Kemosi wrote to the National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations saying he would not appear for the approval hearing as he has declined the nomination.<\/p>\n

In the letter read by Committee chairman Nelson Koech, Kemosi said his decision is informed of compelling personal and family matters.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish to inform you that I will not appear before the said Committee at the time and the venue specified for a formal hearing,\u201d the letter reads.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been occasioned by my personal and compelling family matters which after taking into consideration do not allow me to take up the position as the High Commissioner to Ghana as nominated by President on March 9, 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore to save the precious time of this important Parliamentary business and as per the provision of the Act aforementioned kindly note and this letter serves as notice not to appear.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI thank you for your invitation.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Ruto was expected to nominate another person for the job.<\/p>\n
