Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Twenty-three people have died due to floods in Makueni since the rains started, a report from the Kenya Red Cross and the Makueni County Emergency Response team shows.<\/p>\n

It also indicates that four others are missing. The number of those affected is likely to rise, if the rain persists, the report says.<\/p>\n

John Munywoki, who had a hearing impairment, was swept away by Kikuu River on Tuesday night. His body was found Wednesday morning at Nthange drift, Kalima Kikuu River.<\/p>\n

Rodah Tili Nzomo died after her house collapsed on her. The case was reported at Matiliku police station.<\/p>\n

Another man was swept away by Ivoesyo river in Kalamba. The search for the body is ongoing.<\/p>\n

The Kenya Red Cross and the Makueni County Emergency Response teams have been rescuing families affected by floods in the county.<\/p>\n

On Monday, they distributed food and non -food items to families camping at Mutyambua in Mbitini. The camp has 115 displaced households.<\/p>\n

The people housed there are from Nguumo, Masumba, Kaiti, Kilungu and Mbooni, which are among areas worst-hit by floods.<\/p>\n

Devolution executive Japheth Mangoka has been coordinating rescue teams.<\/p>\n
